When I Grow Up...
Man, I am just so tired. I don't know if I'm getting sick or if it's just because I need more mental stimulation. I'm 24 and I'm... Well, I'm nothing. I do the stay at home mom thing and it's really starting to get to me. Although, I have to say, being a mom is easier than you might think. Yep, all you have to do is accept the impossible, bear the intolerable and be able to smile at anything. Anyway, I've always wanted my own business, a little coffee shop/cafe type thing (a cozy little place with wrought iron chairs and couches you can sink into while reading a good book) or a bed and breakfast, but I just don't see that happening. It's depressing to realize that the only thing you ever really wanted to do will never actually be the thing you do. Sure there's other things I wanted to do, but I'm like a child when it comes to making up my mind about what I want to be when I grow up. Zoologist, teacher, interior designer, toxicologist, paramedic, child care provider, world's most famous rock star (that's not asking too much, is it?)... the list goes on forever. But lately I'm just so unmotivated to do anything serious with myself. It really sucks, mostly because my daughter seems to want to be just like me. My last job was a lifeguard. Guess what she wants to be when she grows up. I don't want her to be like me. I just want her to be proud of me, just like I'm proud of her. How do you explain to a 6 year old that she needs to be her own person and not let other people influence her decisions? Is that even possible at that age? They all want to be like someone else when they're that young, whether it's their parents, their siblings or their friends. Unfortunately it's the followers that usually get hurt the most once they get a little older. They let people walk all over them. I should know, I was one.
