Always follow directions! Everyday after school The Kid comes home on the brink of starvation (those must be some busy 3 hours playing with clay and all) so today, instead of having something ready like I usually do, I waited until she got home in hopes that she would get a little creative. Yeah well, she ever-so-creatively picked ramen noodles. The Kid loves those things. Well, when The Boyfriend went to the store, he got the kind already in a styrofoam cup... Maruchan or something. So anyway, I added water and popped them in the microwave. I walked away (as all microwave foods specifically tell you not to do) and about two and a half minutes later I hear oh-no-Oh-No-OH-NOOO! Then she comes tearing around the corner, stops approximately 1/8 of an inch from my ear, and in her loudest outside voice informs me that "THE NOODLES ARE SPILLING OVER!!!" Oh my god, call fox news. The noodles have boiled over. Though, I should have noticed that she said "spilling", not "boiling". There is apparently a huge difference because the whole bottom spinning plate in the microwave had become the bowl that was holding the water part of the ingredients, and I was left with a cup of steaming noodles. Eventually I got the mini-lake cleaned up and The Kid fed, but what did I learn from this? ...Maruchan noodles suck. By the way, I've always kind of wondered... how do you eat your ramen noodles (if you eat them)? I always boiled until it was just noodles, but I know someone that insists that they are supposed to be soup. Who's the weirdo?
