.:is it worth it?:.
I was just reading Desperation by Steven King and I kind of drifted out of the book and into my own thoughts about reading and writing. In the past 3 weeks or so I've read The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath, Eight Million Ways To Die by Lawrence Block and Cause For Alarm by Erica Spindler and I'm on page 407 out of 547 of Desperation. Well if you read Steven King then you probably know that he almost always puts the start and finish dates for the book somewhere inside the cover and I noticed that his books usually take 1 or 2 years to write. Then I started thinking about how long that really is. 365 days really is a long time to work on any one thing. You put your mind and heart into something for so long, then someone snatches it up and is through with it 7 days later?! And I realized that in the past 3 weeks, I ripped through probably about 4 years of hard work. Yeah, I realize I'm getting a little deep here. I realized that when I actually started to feel bad for reading those books so quickly. But I just wondered... is it worth it? You know... all the hard work and details and just torturing yourself for the "perfect" ending? If there's any writers that are reading this, leave a comment. I'd like to know.
